No fewer than Two girls have committed suicide after receiving their national exam results in East Africa, Kenya.
The girls committed both suicide separately. The two girls, Sylvia Wanyaku and Mercy Chebet, both aged 14 years. Claimed they had performed poorly in the National Exams.
Sylvia who scored 303 marks left a suicide note to her mother which read “Dear mum, i have let you down in this world without scoring 400 marks”.
Relatives and neighbours said Mercy, who was a candidate at Ketitui primary school from Kericho county, hanged herself after realising she scored 145 marks out of 500.
They said the girl had joke about committing suicide because of the result, but the warning was not taken seriously.
Her mother was shocked to find her daughter’s body dangling from the roof of the house.
Telanet location chief, called on parents whose children did’nt perform so well in the exams, to counsel them to avert such incidence.
