Hundreds of people in north-eastern Nigeria fled their homes after an all-night clash between security forces and the Boko Haram Sect, police and residents say.
The police said, that after a recent overnight battle which occured in the northeastern town of Potiskum, where the sect members attacked a police headquarters, robbed and burnt two banks, that they had not yet determined the death toll.
Dozens of soldier were deployed on Saturday and took positions round the police headquarters, and started shooting sporadically.
The town is part of the regions placed under a “State Of Emergency”, by President Goodluck Jonathan a week earlier.
