The Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has raided some offices of the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) in Lagos and Abuja, today (Tuesday) and have seized some documents during the process.
This was done after the anti-corruption agency received an order from President Goodluck Jonathan, to investigate alleged fraud in the payment of kerosene and fuel importers.
The PPPRA is the agency responsible for the payment of fuel subsidy, on imported fuel to the importers.
The EFCC arrived at the offices and demanded for some documents. After getting what they ordered, they left without making any arrests, a source told the DAILY TRUST.
The spokesperson for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, told newsmen that the early stage of the investigation will focus on marketers, to determine who imported what, where, when and how. According to him, “their will also be a foreign leg of the investigation to determine the true price quoted for products at the time so as to verify the claim of the marketers”.
