Nigeria: Inspector General Of Police Dismissed, Replaced By Assistant Inspector

The President of Nigeria, Pres. Goodluck Jonathan, has removed the Inspector General of Police Hafiz Ringim, and has replaced him with his assistant, Mohammed Abubakar.

The removal of the IGP is in response to the masses, calling on the president to remove the inspector following the escape of a key Boko Haram leader, Kabiru Sokoto last week.

The newly appointed IGP was the former Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, during the first tenure of Governor Babatunde Fashola. And he was a very active officer, during his tenure he safeguarded the state from any form of insecurity. Since his removal, insecurity in the state has risen slowly.

His appointment will surely signal an improvement in the security.
